How To Create A New PageIt is very simple to create a new page. Just follow these steps. - Before creating a page you must register first. Press the "Register" button at the bottom of the menu on the right. Once you have registered you will be logged in automatically. Previously-registered users should log in rather than register. Tip: if you can't see the "New" button in the menu to the right of the screen, you need to register (first time use) or log in (subsequent uses).
- Click on the "New" button under the "Page" heading of the menu on the right of the page.
- Type in the name of the new page. Use letters and numbers only and do not leave any spaces between them. If you wish to have a series of words for the name then use capital letters for the first letter of each word and the spaces will be created automatically when you make the page. Tip: make the page name relevant to the content. The page will be listed in the index (accessed by pressing "Index" in the right menu) in alphabetical order, so if you are writing about a house at a particular address you could put the name of the town or area first, rather than the house number, to make it easier for others to find.
- Choose a template using the drop-down box. Always use the "HouseDetailsTemplate" as it contains instructions on adding content to the page.
- Select "Rich Text Editor" and press "Submit".
- The new page will be displayed. Add content by following the instructions in the template. Some of these instructions are repeated on How To Edit A Page
- When you have finished adding content, press "Save" (located at the bottom of the page).
The title of your page, and a link to it, will be displayed in alphabetical order in the index (press "Index" in the right menu to access it). It is always a good idea to link your new page to other pages and get other pages (and websites) to link to your new page, to improve the chances of people finding the page (you can also email a link to the page to friends, family and colleagues). For more information on how to do this, see How to Create a Link. Tip: if you have difficulty remembering these instructions either open a new window on your screen so that you can display these instructions as well as the page to which you wish to add a picture, or print these instructions out! |
