How To Edit A Page

These instructions cover editing and adding text only. To add a picture see How To Add a Picture.

1. Before you can edit a page you must register first. To do this press the "Register" button on the bottom of the menu on the right. Once you have registered you will be logged in automatically. Previously-registered users should log in rather than register. Tip: if you can't see the "Edit" button in the menu to the right of the screen, you need to register (first time use) or log in (subsequent uses).
2. Display the page you wish to edit (you can find it using the "Search" box on the left of the page or by pressing "Index" in the right menu, where pages are listed in alphabetical order).
3. From the menu on the right of the page, press "Edit" under the "Page" heading. An editable version of the page will then be displayed. (Note that some pages, such as this one, won't allow editing.)
4. Use the editing tools in the toolbar at the top of the page to edit the text. They are very similar to standard word processing tools. When finished, write a note describing the change at the bottom of the page, press the "Save" button also at the bottom of the page and view your modified page. If it is not how you want it, press "Edit" in the right hand menu again and modify the page.

In order to have more control over the positioning of the text on the page it can be useful to use tables. Insert a table by pressing the icon on the bottom left of the toolbar and filling in the popup box that will be displayed, making sure that the table is no more than 615 pixels wide. (Note that your browser must allow popups for this to work, so if you get a warning message come up you should select the option to allow popups for this website only.)

Table editing tools are displayed along the bottom row of the toolbar. If you wish to modify the options for a table already created, click on the table edge to highlight it and then right click on your mouse and select "Table Properties" to display the popup box again.

Tip: if you have difficulty remembering these instructions either open a new window on your screen so that you can display these instructions as well as the page to which you wish to add a picture, or print these instructions out!
